Yield: 8 FRIED PIES
Prep Time: 10 MINUTES
Cook Time: 15 MINUTES
Total Time: 25 MINUTES
✅ INGREDIENTS
- 1 pkg (14.1 oz) refrigerated pie crust
- 1 can (20 oz) lemon pie filling
FOR GLAZE
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 Tbsp lemon juice
✅ INSTRUCTIONS
- Preheat Air Fryer to 360 degrees F. Soften pie crusts according to package directions.
- Remove pie crusts from the package and place them on top of each other. Use a pizza cutter or sharp knife to cut through both crusts into 8 squares (or squarish shapes). The pair of crusts that were cut together will be the top and bottom of each fruit pie.
- Working with the crusts for one pie at a time, spoon about 1 tablespoon of pie filling into the middle of each bottom crust. Use your hands to stretch the top crust just slightly and place it on top of the pie.
- Use a fork to crimp the edges of the pie crust so that the filling does not leak out.
- Place pies in a single layer in the basket of the Air Fryer. Cook 7 minutes then turn the pies over and cook another 5-7 minutes.
- While pies are cooking, stir together powdered sugar and lemon juice in a small bowl until it's a thin, pourable consistency.
- Drizzle over pies.

Air Fryer Lemon Pies are an oil-free version of classic lemon fried pies. They are sometimes called hand pies because they are often eaten by hand instead of with a fork. You will love the creamy lemon filling and the tart lemon glaze on top of this easy air fryer dessert recipe.
Nothing beats a fresh pie right out of the oven.
KEY TO SUCCESS #1 – START WITH REFRIGERATED PIE CRUST
Refrigerated pie crusts from the grocery store have come a long way.
When you’re short on time and have a hungry family waiting to eat, using shortcut ingredients from the grocery store is a perfect compromise.
Refrigerated pie crusts taste a lot like homemade and will save you a lot of time.
But you can also use your favorite pie crust recipe if you’ve got some extra time.
You’ll need two pie crusts for this recipe, which will make four lemon pies.
If you only want four lemon pies, you can use one pie crust.
When cutting the pie crusts, it’s very important to ensure that the top and bottom crusts are the same size and shape so that you can seal the edges well.
The easiest way to ensure that the crusts match up is to place the two pie crusts on top of one another and then cut them at the same time.
The pie crusts will not be perfectly square, but they will all have the perfect match so that the edges can be sealed properly.
After you have the pie crusts cut, the next step is to add in the lemon filling.
I always use the Duncan Hines Wilderness Lemon Creme pie filling.
You can find it at most grocery stores or even some big box stores.
I love the tart lemon flavor in this pie filling and it has a nice smooth and thick texture.
Put about a tablespoon of filling into the middle of the bottom pie crust.
Use a spoon to spread the filling across the middle of the crust, but do not push it all the way to the edge.
You want to leave plenty of room to crimp the edges of the pie crust so that they won’t leak in the air fryer.
Use a bit of water on your finger to moisten the edge of the pie crust then put the matching crust on top.
Press the top down all around the edges using your fingers.
You shouldn’t have any visible gaps between the pie crusts.
To make a pretty finishing touch, use the tines of a fork to create a pretty crimp all around the edges where you pressed with your fingers.
KEY TO SUCCESS #3 – AIR FRY IN A SINGLE LAYER
Once the edges are fully crimped, it’s time to cook the pretty little lemon pies in the preheated air fryer.
You might need to cook the lemon pies in multiple batches depending on the size of your air fryer basket.
I can generally get 2-3 lemon pies in my air fryer at one time.
Air Fry the pies for 7 minutes then gently turn them over and cook 5-7 minutes on the other side.
I use a nylon spatula to turn the pies over, but you can also use two forks.
While the lemon pies are frying, mix up the icing by combining powdered sugar and lemon juice in a small bowl.
Allow the lemon pies to cool for a few minutes before drizzling the icing over them.
For less lemon flavor, you can use milk and a splash of vanilla extract in the icing in place of the lemon juice.
I highly recommend the lemon juice in the icing though!
Try it, I think you’ll like it.
