These cookies can be made in advance so that you have less to do when right before your party.
We’re using Pillsbury refrigerated sugar cookie dough to save time and effort to make these Dinosaur Footprint cookies.
You can use your favorite sugar cookie dough recipe if you would prefer.
The procedure for making the dinosaur footprints will be the same no matter what sugar cookie dough you use.
With the refrigerated cookie dough, you should follow the directions on the package to slice the sugar cookie dough if needed.
Place the cookie dough slices on an ungreased baking sheet about 2 inches apart to account for spreading.
Bake the cookies for 10 minutes until they are puffy and very lightly browned.
After the cookies have been pre-baked, remove them from the oven and press the feet of a plastic toy dinosaur into the top of each cookie to leave the footprints.
You’ll want to look for a dinosaur that is about 7 inches tall to get the right size of feet to fit on the sugar cookies.
I suggest using a two-legged dinosaur like a Tyrannosaurus Rex.
But the main thing is to make sure the feet look like a typical dinosaur’s footprint.
And one final tip – make sure the dinosaur toy is cleaned with soap and water before you use it to make footprints in your cookies.
Finally, place the cookies back into the oven for 2-4 minutes until the cookies fully cook and become light brown.
To carry through the Dinosaur theme, place your Dinosaur Footprint Sugar Cookies onto a wood platter or tray.
I used a round wood platter that had the bark around it to make it look very natural just like the dinosaurs walked right across it and the cookies too.
If you have room, you can even place the plastic toy dinosaur onto the serving tray or even let him stand on a cookie in the center of the platter.
Overall, these Dinosaur Footprint Cookies are an easy recipe that adds an additional treat for your Dinosaur Party or your 3-Rex party.
