Duo expands to web browser calls and adds a fun mode with games and filters
Google has announced that “in the coming weeks” you’ll be able to make Google Duo groups calls via a web browser. The service is currently confined to its Android and iOS apps but soon it’ll be possible to group call using the Chrome browser on your computer or tablet.
The company has a slew of messaging and video calling services that can often be confusing. It recently announced that it would drop the Hangouts branding from its other services, and is pushing free video calls on Google Meet though it is more a business app.
Duo is meant to be Google’s consumer video calling app. We getting quite tired of trying to keep up, but at least it’s easier to make group calls now – but it goes to show just how confused everyone was about which free calling service to use during the pandemic that the world decided that app was Zoom.
Google also introduced family mode to Duo, which lets you play fun child-friendly games and apply face filters.
