With a May launch now officially locked into the calendar, all that's left to do is wait for LG's upcoming high-end mid-ranger - the design-led, 5G-capable LG Velvet - to actually arrive.
The LG Velvet looks to be the South Korean tech giant changing tack, with regards to its smartphone portfolio in 2020 and the company might not be alone in that regard.

Unlike the hardware-led G and V-Series phones of the last few years, the LG Velvet will be the first of the company's recent handsets to pull away from such a hardware-first approach. This faux-flagship instead places a greater emphasis on aesthetics and design, while still impressing with premium features like 5G connectivity and support for LG's established dual-screen accessories.
When Is The LG Velvet Release Date?
LG has a tendency to eke out its smartphone launches and the Velvet has enjoyed much the same treatment, with numerous admissions in the lead-up to the reveal of its launch date; including design, specifications, accessories and more.
As of late April, the company finally produced, not only a full spec-list for the Velvet but also its official release date - at least in South Korea. A video stream launching the device will air on 7 May and the phone will be available for purchase as of 15 May.
There's no word yet on its availability in other markets.
How Much Will The LG Velvet Cost?
Yonhap News, who first broke the story around the Velvet's initial launch predict a price of ₩800,000 - approximately £530/US$655/AU$1010/€605.
This places it markedly below the latest flagships on the market, no doubt as a result of the processor LG has opted for and the phone's emphasis on design over the use of top-tier hardware. For comparison, the company's recently-launched LG V60 ThinQ 5G, which is currently only available in the US, costs US$799.
What Specs Does The LG Velvet Feature?
The LG Velvet is reported to rely on Qualcomm's Snapdragon 765 5G chipset, which is likely one of the greatest contributors to the phone's more affordable nature, compared to the numerous Snapdragon 865-powered flagship phones that edge closer to the £1000/US$1000-mark.
